Founder / Physician
Dr. Fussell was born in Americus, GA and raised in Macon. He attended Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) and graduated from Fort Valley State University with a degree in Zoology. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from Illinois State University in Normal, IL and graduated from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens in 2000. He completed his residency in Pittsburgh, PA at Mercy Hospital. After completing his role as Chief Resident in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, he remained in Pittsburgh to complete a post-doctoral fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at West Penn Allegheny Health System. He is also Suboxone Certified and has had MILD Procedure and Peripheral Nerve Stimulator training.
His proficiencies include but are not limited to: Spinal Cord Stimulator and Implantable Pump Trials and Placement, Provocative Discograms, IDETs, Nucleoplasty, Selective Transforaminal Nerve Root Blocks, Spinal Epidural Steroid Injections (all levels of the spine), Lumbar Sympathetic Chain Blocks, Stellate Ganglion Blocks, and Facet Blocks (all levels of the spine).
In 2006 he opened the Interventional Pain Institute had two locations: Washington, PA and Morgantown, WV. Ten (10) years later he and his wife decided to raise their children closer to family and move to Albany, GA to work with MSA Orthopedics. In 2021, he re-established the Interventional Pain Institute at 3200 Gillionville Road in Albany, GA.
Currently, Dr. Fussell is a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Incorporated and Doublegate Country Club. When he’s not working, he’s golfing, distilling spirits and wine, and spending time with family.
